The process our artists use is similar to ice sculpting: They scrape away the pumpkin from the outside in, without cutting through, to give depth and form. The pumpkins should last at least one week, and longer in cooler weather.
The process begins with the artist hand-illustrating the character with ink directly onto the pumpkin. Then he scrapes away the pumpkin skin and flesh, bit by bit. This method provides depth, tone and shadows to the figure, especially when lit from inside. A square is cut out in the back to remove the pumpkin’s insides, and then the pumpkin is sprayed with a lemon juice and water mix to prolong the life of the pumpkin. Add your own LED light! (Candles and bulbs that get hot not recommended.)

We source our pumpkins locally in Westchester.

Each pumpkin is a standard, classic-size approximately 11" high.

Carved pumpkins are expected to last 7+ days, longer in cold weather.

Optional free service to have the "insides" removed, or you can do them yourself. (Doing them yourself means pumpkin will last longer.)
